The Sellwood Aluminium Attic Stairs Range

In 2000, the research and development team at Sellwood Products began work on an aluminium attic stair which could withstand heavier use than the timber stairs. The need for a more durable stair became evident when a deluxe stair, being used by staff at a fast food outlet to access packaging and consumable supplies, was not withstanding the frequent use. Work began to design and build an attic stair using heavy duty aluminium. A number of challenges faced the Sellwood team including how to hinge the three sections together and how to adjust the stairs for height. Through innovation and hard work these challenges were overcome and the result was the Sellwood Aluminium Attic Stair range.

Today Sellwood Aluminium attic ladders are used in a variety of applications including access to roofs in commercial buildings via a Sellwood Roof Hatch (find out more), access to frequently used storage areas, and access to air conditioning and elevator services. For most residential purposes the Deluxe stairs are preferable to the Aluminium stairs because of their deeper tread and gentle angle.

Suitable for any ceiling heights from 2300mm to 2500mm (8').

Sellwood Aluminium 31 (A31) Attic Stairs:
Suitable for any ceiling heights from 3000mm to 3160mm (10'). Includes a second stage spring system to take the weight of the bottom two sections of the stair as they are being unfolded and folded back up again, making for easier operation.

Aluminium Other Heights:
As the height adjustments on the Aluminium range is more restrictive than the timber stairs, Sellwood can modify the standard models for specific heights between those given above. Please provide actual floor to ceiling height when ordering.
