When first shown folding attic stairs in 1979, Warwick immediately saw the potential for providing homeowners safe, easy access to storage space in their attic, space they were paying for but could not otherwise access. Warwick bought a stand at the Auckland Home Show in 1980 and for the first time the New Zealand public saw folding attic stairs. For the next 20 years the Warwick imported attic stairs from around the world, generating public awareness through Home Shows and word-of-mouth all the while building a reputation for fantastic customer service and support. In 1998, the opportunity came to design and manufacture their own range of Sellwood Attic Stairs here in New Zealand. With an extensive knowledge of attic stairs from around the world, Warwick and the team set out to develop an attic stair that would consistently outperform its rivals. By April 1999, the first batch of New Zealand Made Sellwood Attic Stairs was available for sale. Today Sellwood dominates the New Zealand attic stair market by providing the biggest range of quality attic stairs available. Despite the growth in recent years, we have not lost our drive for innovation and customer satisfaction. Sellwood’s Team
Warwick Kendon is responsible for establishing the attic storage market in New Zealand. With a background in sales and carpentry, Warwick started out in business in 1976, initially installing spiral staircases but later taking on and developing the attic stair market in New Zealand. Warwick played the key role in the design and manufacture of the New Zealand made range of Sellwood Attic Stairs. His passion for high quality products and high quality customer service has grown Sellwood Products reputation as the leading attic storage company in New Zealand. Warwick and his wife Marie have been married for over 37 years with three children, three granddaughters and one more on the way. His interests include walking, fishing and cryptic crossword puzzles.
Tom has always been interested in building processes, an interest ignited as a young boy helping his father who was in the building sector. He commenced working in the building industry over 30 years ago in the timber department at H.C. Kitchen Ltd. Tom progressed through various sales representative and management roles with well known merchant building supply companies. In 1997 he established 'Tom's Home Maintenance Services', a small owner operated business. Trusting the high quality of Sellwood Products, Tom began contract installation of Sellwood Attic Stairs and Skytube Tubular Skylights. Following a serious accident as a Scout Leader and unable to continue with building, Tom was delighted to be offered fulltime employment with Sellwood Products as he supports and believes in the integrity and vision of this company. Tom's full array of skills and talents have been utilized in sales, product design, installation training and CAD design. Married to Julia for over 30 years, their grown children are both at University. Tom is involved with establishing a men's ministry at his church. His other interests include fishing, cooking (he is a qualified chef), camping and travel. He designed and personally built his own home at Waiake and it is still standing 29 years later!
Russell Kendon started working at the family business in his school holidays in 2000, manufacturing and quality checking stock in the warehouse. Russell joined Sellwood full time in 2006 after graduating from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Property degree. Initially employed to undertake customer services and stock dispatch, Russell’s role has developed into coordinating Sellwood’s marketing activity as well as sales representation to building supply merchants throughout the North Island. Russell’s interests include running, rugby and watching movies.
Duncan Glover joined the British Royal Navy in 1978 and served for 7 years as a Stores Accountant. After finishing his time in the Navy, Duncan joined the Fire Service in Dorset, England where he served for 20 years. Duncan moved with his family to New Zealand in 2006 and joined the Sellwood team two months later as the Warehouse Manager. Duncan’s wealth of experience in production scheduling and warehouse operations makes sure the Sellwood supply chain flows seamlessly from month to month. Duncan, his wife and two children have happily settled in New Zealand and proudly call themselves Kiwis. His interests include sports (especially football and his beloved Tottanham Hotspur), gardening and photography.
